Vintage Red

I finally bought lampshades for my grandmother's lamps and put them in the living room. After my grandmother died last August, her home was cleaned out by the family and a yard sale followed. This pair of lamps were put into the yard sale. I was trying very hard at the time, not to bring more stuff into my house, but I just had to bring home these lamps. They are hand-painted and signed simply "Mary".

This wonderful kitchy metal tray also came from my grandmother's house. I saved it from a box slated to go to Goodwill.

I brought this piece of fabric home from a little antique store just the other day. I love the trees and castles on it. The piece is 36" wide and over a yard long, unfortunately someone cut a hole in the middle of it. Still, it's great for quilt pieces or any small craft and I only paid $1.00 for it.
This is my first time playing along on 'It's A Very Cherry World!'s' Rednesday. Check out all the others on her blog.

I think you made the right choice to pull those lamps out of the yard sale! They're really pretty, and definitely keepers. When my Grandma passed away, I also found it hard not to take everything home. I have a feeling I'm going to have an even bigger problem with my Mom's things. I hope you join in next week too, and show us more of your reds!
Happy REDnesday!

Hi Linda! Love your red show n tell! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and following. I'm so glad to meet a fellow apronista...I know that's someone elses word, but it fits. I have to say I'm 'red' with envy of your quilting...I just have no patience for it....I can embroider all day, I love picking the fabrics and colors, but somebody else has to put it together. Beleive me it exasperated my Grandma and Aunt too. Your on my list.

Cute lamps, but I must confess I really love the barbecue tray! So fun! Cute fabric too. What a nice way to start out on Rednesday!

Love your red treasures! I think I remember seeing a tray like that when I used to go camping when I was little... we must have had a similar one in our tiny trailer! Thank you for commenting on my blog today! You really should go to Concord!!! ;)

(Right now they are paving the Sagamore Bridge, and it is causing MAJOR backups trying to get off the Cape... I hear it's SUPPOSED to be finished before Memorial Day.)
